Congratulations to our February DAISY & BEE Awards Winners!
DAISY Award
Congratulations, Katie Goodwin, LPN! Katie is our latest DAISY Award Winner! Read her nomination below:

Over the past year, I have faced a series of complex and overlapping medical and health challenges that required navigating specialty care, behavioral health services, and the often-overwhelming realities of insurance and healthcare systems. At times, the process felt confusing, exhausting, and isolating. There were many moments when the weight of it all felt like too much.
What made this year survivable—and in many ways hopeful—was knowing that Katie was there.
Even when she wasn’t physically in the room, Katie supported me from afar in ways that mattered deeply. She consistently checked in on me, followed up, and helped me understand next steps when the system felt impossible to navigate. She was honest and authentic, never dismissive, and always willing to take the time to explain, problem-solve, or simply listen.
Katie didn’t just see me as a patient with appointments and diagnoses—she saw me as a whole person. She met me exactly where I was emotionally, mentally, and physically, without judgment. She celebrated small wins, acknowledged setbacks, and cheered me on through moments when I needed reassurance that I could keep going.
What stands out most about Katie is her humanity. She brought warmth, encouragement, and steadiness into an experience that could have easily felt cold and transactional. Her compassion and advocacy helped me move through barriers that might otherwise have stopped my care altogether. Because of her, I felt supported, understood, and not alone. Whenever Katie was my nurse my anxiety instantly subsided. Katie embodies what nursing is meant to be: skilled, compassionate, patient-centered care that recognizes the dignity and complexity of the person behind the chart. I am immensely grateful for her presence in my life during this difficult year, and I can’t imagine a more deserving recipient of the DAISY Award.
BEE Award
Bill Herbst, PT, LAT is our latest BEE Award recipient! Way to go, Bill! Read his nomination below:

I would like to offer my sincere appreciation and recognition to Bill, at DCMC. I have had the privilege of working with Bill during my recovery from hip surgery, as well as previously during therapy for a fractured humerus. Across both experiences, Bill consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, compassion and dedication to patient care.
Bill’s expertise is evident, but what truly sets him apart is how deeply he cares about the people he works with. During my recent hip surgery recovery, he not only provided excellent therapy, but also went the extra mile to help ensure my treatment was covered by insurance so I could continue healing without added stress. That advocacy meant more to me than he may realize.
Equally important is the way Bill interacts with his patients. He is encouraging, attentive and genuinely engaged in every session. He explains exercises clearly, offers reassurance when progress feels slow, and celebrates improvements- big and small. I have observed other therapists who competently give instructions, but Bill stands out because of his warmth, positivity and the way he motivates his clients with genuine kindness and enthusiasm.
Bill made a meaningful difference in both of my recoveries, and I am deeply grateful for his care and encouragement. DCMC is fortunate to have such a dedicated and compassionate therapist on their team.
Show your gratitude!
