Meet a Better Tomorrow: Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves.

For over 80 years, Door County Medical Center has been part of the fabric of life in Door and Kewaunee counties. Over time, we’ve grown into something more: a regional health system that blends advanced technology and specialty services with the personal, neighborly care that people value most.

Today, patients can access a wide range of services right in their own community, including primary care for all ages, orthopedics, behavioral health, general surgery, treatment for heartburn and reflux, and skilled nursing services. More than 175 physicians now serve on our medical staff, offering the kind of expertise that many expect to find only in larger cities.

At a time when rural hospitals across the country are being forced to close, and many others have shuttered their birthing centers, Door County Medical Center is moving in the opposite direction, expanding services and investing in the future of local care. As Angela Sherman shared, “I've had all three of my children in the Birthing Center at Door County Medical Center—one premature, one full-term and the last pre-term. The staff is always amazing, having put my fears to rest in delivering two babies before being term and offering personalized care that makes them feel like family. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful resource so close to home and wouldn't deliver anywhere else.”

That same commitment to progress is seen across our departments. Tom Robinson noted, “Over the last couple of years, I have been a frequent flyer at DCMC and the staff from top to bottom are caring, communicative, knowledgeable and professional. Results are promptly available via the Patient Portal, and follow-up care is expedient. Thanks to those providing testing and care to me.”

And for those recovering from surgery, expertise here changes lives. “Dr. T [Dr. Daniel Tomaszewski] did my knee. Wasn’t painless, but I have full use now. This whole event was first-class beginning to end. The class before and all the info you are given is priceless. If I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. Thanks again for my pain-free knee. You are the best.”

These stories reflect what national rankings confirm. Medicare places Door County Medical Center among the top 15% of hospitals nationwide, awarding us a 5-star rating for quality, safety, and patient experience. That recognition is built not just on outcomes, but on the way our nurses, doctors, and staff listen, communicate, and care for patients every day.

The Door County Medical Center of today is not only stronger, but it’s also more responsive, more connected, and more capable than ever before. From welcoming new life to restoring mobility, every step forward is about helping our patients live healthier lives and return to the things they love most.

Meet Door County Medical Center, and meet a better tomorrow.
